2.2 Core Enhancements

Note: These release notes include all features available for this version of the system at the time this documentation was published. For information on new features and fixes patched back to this version after publication, please see the Release Notes_Addendum file.

Localization and Translations

SmartView now includes localization and translation options, allowing it to be used throughout a global market.

The current language is defined in the host system, then passed to SmartView. Certain features are implemented automatically, such as the formatting of dates and numbers. Translations are defined in the configurations for various dashboard components, and can be applied to features such as labels, titles, and column names.

While individual translations can be managed through the configurations, the translations can be managed as a group through Excel files available in the Configurator section. These Excel files can be downloaded, modified, and uploaded back into the system. They can also be uploaded into a different system, allowing the translations to be implemented and tested on one system, then transferred into a live system.

Integration With Mobile Devices

SmartView can now be linked to an app on a mobile device, making select dashboards and dataviews available on-the-go.

At the time of publishing, the app was not yet available for download. Once it has been released, it can be downloaded from either the App Store or Google Play store. An update will be placed in the Release Notes Addendum file once the app becomes available.

The Share icon is now available in the dashboard toolbar, and opens the Share Configuration panel. This panel provides settings for registering a mobile device. Once a device is registered, it can display dataviews with a range of controls for selecting the display, sorting and filtering, and opening links, among others.

Note that only one device can be registered for a single user account.

Individual dataviews also have the Share icon . Activating this icon and saving the custom settings makes that dataview available on the registered device.

  • For details on registering and using the mobile app, see the SmartView Mobile section.

Notifications for Scheduled Snapshots

It is now possible to receive notifications when a scheduled snapshot is generated.

When configuring a snapshot schedule, a new panel has been added for How to send notifications. This panel includes settings for Email (currently not implemented), Web Notification Push, and Mobile Notification Push. It also includes a field to enter a custom message for the notification.

Conditions can be applied to control whether or not notifications are sent. The conditions can be set to use any of the rules applied for conditional formatting.

  • For details on configuring the notifications, see the Snapshots Panel section.

Documentation Completed for Multiple Features

Several gaps in the documentation have been completed for multiple features throughout the system. This includes the following:

  • A new section listing the security rights used in SmartView has been added. For details, see the Security Rights List section.
  • Managing RSS Feeds in the Configurator tool. For details, see the RSS Feeds Screen section.

In addition, several other individual options and fields that were missing descriptions have been filled in.
